James IV (1488-1531), Groat, Edinburgh, mm. crown, tressure of seven arcs, trefoils on cusps except above crown, stars by neck, legend ends qra, rev. three pellets in first and fourth quarters, mullets in second and third quarters, star stops both sides, 2.30g/3h (cf. SCBI 35, 848-9; cf. B 10; S 5341). Scratches across portrait, otherwise very fine (£300-350)
