M.M. London Gazette 23 February 1918. The original recommendation states:
‘This N.C.O. on the night of the 31 October 1917 at a Block House on the Zonnebeke Road, volunteered to assist to clear some stretcher cases which it was urgently necessary to have evacuated. He displayed great bravery in helping to load two cases into a horse ambulance when the enemy was shelling heavily the road to the vicinity of the Block-House.’
Lindsey Clifford Moffatt was born in Northwood, Ontario, on 3 January 1895. A Civil Servant by occupation, he enlisted into the C.F.A. at Valcartier in September 1914 and was embarked for France in January 1916. Serving with the 13th Battery, 4th Brigade, C.F.A., he was awarded the M.M. for the above cited deeds in October 1917 and was discharged at Montreal in May 1919; sold with copied service papers.
