William Allan Dodds was born in Cheshire on 4 August 1874. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the 170th Battalion (Mississauga Horse) at Toronto in March 1916, but was serving in the 58th Battalion, as part of the 3rd Canadian Division, when he was killed in action at the battle of Passchendaele on 26 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Dodds, of Winnington Road, Northwich, Cheshire; sold with copied service papers.
