John Clark was born in Cumberland, England, on 2 March 1887. A Blacksmith by occupation, he enlisted into the 28th (North West) Battalion at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in October 1914, but transferred to the Canadian Railway Construction Corps before his arrival in England in June 1915. Embarked for France in August of the same year, he was awarded the M.M. and was discharged in May 1919; sold with copied service papers.
