Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Relief of Lucknow (John T. Garrad, Boy 1st Class. Shannon) some light marks, otherwise gaood very fine and scarce £600-700

John T. Garrad served in the Crimean campaign aboard H.M.S. Furious, a 16-gun steam frigate commanded by Captain William Loring, and received the Crimea medal with Sebastopol clasp, and the Turkish Crimea medal. Rated as a Boy First Class he served in H.M.S. Shannon with the Naval Brigade during the Indian Mutiny under the command of Captain William Peel, V.C., C.B., Royal Navy.

Garrad was present at the Relief of Lucknow but died, probably of cholera or dysentry, at Cawnpore on 30 November 1857. His medal was subsequently sent to his father, one of only 28 with this single clasp issued to the
Shannon.
