K.P.M. London Gazette 9 November 1909, presented by the King on 2 July 1910. The recommendation submitted by the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police states: ‘P.C. Lambert. Conspicuous gallantry in diving into a dock on a bitterly cold winter’s night to save the life of a drowning seaman.’

This rescue took place at Debnams Dock, Deptford, on 24 February 1909, at 1 a.m. in the morning. Lambert saved the life of a sailor called Ohlsen who fell into the dock, 14 feet deep, when going on board his ship, and was awarded the bronze medal of the Royal Humane Society (Case No. 36,547).
