Michael Harcourt was born in Bourton, Dorset on 25 August 1837. An Engine Smith by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy in March 1856 and went on to serve as Engine Room Artificer. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1875 when serving on Sultan. Pensioned in June 1876. With a number of copied service papers.
