Rupert Land, a Postillion, was awarded the Royal Household Faithful Service Medal in May 1930; he went on to be awarded clasps on 6 May 1940 and 6 May 1950. As a Groom in the Crown Equerry’s Department he was awarded the R.V.M. in Silver on 9 June 1938. Latterly served as Head Coachman.
With bestowal documents for the R.V.M. in silver; Jubilee Medal 1935; Coronation Medal 1937; Portuguese medal (1909); Italian Royal Service Medal in bronze (1924); French Medal of Honour in bronze (1927), with ‘Permission to Wear’; Dutch Orange House Order Medal in silver (1950) with associated papers and ‘Permission to Wear’; Danish Medal of Recompense (1951) with French translation and ‘Permission to Wear’; together with a number of copied photographs of the recipient at various stages of his career and other copied photographs of, and presented by, members of the Royal Family - some with copied letters that accompanied them. Also with a hand-written account of Land’s career in the Royal Household written by his daughter.
