Benjamin Smith Bradley was appointed Navigating Sub-Lieutenant on 23 March 1864, and promoted to Navigating Lieutenant on 7 November 1868. He was Navigating Lieutenant of the Charybdis during the operations in the Lingie and Lukat rivers against Malays, in the Straits of Malacca, 1874 (Perak Medal and Clasp). He was promoted to Staff Commander on 26 June 1882, and retired on 15 October 1889. His name does not appear in the Navy List for 1893.
