D.C.M. London Gazette 14 November 1916 ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He led a party round the enemy’s flank with great courage and initiative and greatly assisted in the capture of the position. He was severely wounded.’

Sold with a copy of a news cutting from the
Lewisham Borough News, dated 16 December 1916, which includes a photograph of recipient and states ‘He joined the colours in August 1914 and went to the front with the regiment in March 1915, and was wounded at High Wood on 15 September 1916. ‘
