Frank Crossman was born in South Shields. Living in Charlton and a Window Cleaner by occupation, he attested for service with the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 8 June 1914, aged 18 years. With them he served with the B.E.F. in France, 9 March-29 September 1915. He was invalided home as a result of a gunshot wound to his left side on 25 September during an attack on Loos. He was discharged on 24 December 1915 as no longer fit for service and was awarded the Silver War Badge. Sold with copied service papers and other research.
