James Frederick Hunt was born at Stourbridge on 17 February 1882 and was educated at King Edward VII Grammar School, Stourbridge. A Bank Accountant by occupation, he enlisted into the 3rd/15th London Regiment (Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles) on 24 May 1916. He was discharged to a commission in the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 28 February 1917. He entered the France/Flanders theatre of war in April 1917 but was invalided to England on 16 May 1918 having been gassed. Sold with copied service papers and m.i.c.
