Thomas Jameson was born in the Parish of St. Bartholomew’s, London. By occupation a Labourer, he attested for the Royal Regiment of Horse Guards at London in August 1815, aged 18 years. He was discharged on 11 October 1816. Enlisting with the 60th Foot on 31 March 1817, he served with the 1st Battalion until April 1819 and with the 2nd Battalion thereafter. He served overseas in the West Indies, the Cape of Good Hope, North America and Gibraltar and attained the rank of Quartermaster Serjeant on 25 April 1827. He was discharged at his own request on 8 May 1837.
