Collection
James Barnett was born in Saint Werburg, Cheshire. A Tin-Plate Worker by occupation, he attested for service with the Royal Artillery at Chester on 20 October 1825, aged 18 years. Out of a total service of 21 years, he served in Gibraltar for 10 years, 5 months and in Jamaica for 4 months. He attained the rank of Colour Serjeant in July 1842 and was discharged on 13 October 1846 as being unfit for further service.
