Laurence Charles Drake Eliot was born on 9 June 1895. On the outbreak of war he gave up his business in Canada, and enlisted at Winnipeg, into Lord Strathcona’s Horse. He was awaiting his commission when he was killed in action in France on 26 May 1915. His name is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
