Geoffrey William Hird was the son of Albert Frederick and May Simpson Hird, of Southgate, Middlesex. He was killed on 20 September 1944, aged 21, when his light tank ran over a land-mine, and is buried in Leopoldsburg War Cemetery, Limburg, Belgium.
