P.C. William Campbell Gray Porter transferred from Ayr Burgh Police to the Metropolitan Police on 27 March 1905. He had served in the Ayr Police for two and a half years and in the 6th V.B. Royal Highlanders for 3 years. He retired on 19 August 1927.
