Tom Watson Stevens was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment in March 1915 and was attached to the 7th Battalion, West Riding Regiment in the rank of Lieutenant in June 1916, so most probably he witnessed extensive action on the Somme that Summer. His MIC entry confirms that his sole entitlement was to the British War & Victory Medals; sold with a portrait photograph, contained in a metalled 2nd Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment frame.
