Henry William Leach was commissioned into the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve as a Pilot Officer in June 1941, direct from his previous employment as a Flight Sergeant. Transferring to the Royal Air Force Regiment in February 1942, he was advanced to Flight Lieutenant in August 1944, and was mentioned in despatches in January 1946. Having been placed on the Emergency List after the War, Leach retired in February 1954, when he was permitted to retain the rank of Squadron Leader.
Sold with his original M.I.D. certificate, dated 1 January 1946.
