Mary Blanche Ker was born in August 1912, the daughter of Major-General C. A. Ker, C.B., C.M.G., C.B.E., D.S.O., a Colonel Commandant, R.A., and scion of the Kers of Leintwardine (see Burke’s). Appointed a Company Assistant in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force in January 1939, she was advanced to Squadron Officer in January 1944 and was awarded the Air Efficiency Award in April 1947. She relinquished her commission in February 1954.
