Fred Gunnell, who was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, died of wounds in France on 25 April 1917, while serving in the 2/9th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He was 25 years of age and is buried in Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery on the Somme; sold with a photograph of his original grave.
