Frederick John Alford, who was born at Stawell, Somerset, was killed in action during the crossing of the River Rhonelle at Preseau on 1 November 1918, while serving in the 1st Battalion, Rifle Brigade. He is buried in the Preseau Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
