Charles I (1625-1649), Newark, Ninepence, 1645, from an altered Shilling obv. die and struck on a flan of Shilling weight, simple jewelled band to crown with ten pearls to left of orb and eight to right, reads obs newark, 6.19g (Hird 250-1 [Shillings]; SCBI Brooker –; N 2641; S 3144). Evidence of tooling and alteration to detail in the obverse design, otherwise good fine, very rare and unusual (£400-600)
