Harry Walter Poole was born in Sevenoaks and enlisted at Hastings. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment, he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 12 August 1914. He was killed in action on 4 October 1914. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial.
