George William Tollett enlisted into the 28th Battalion London Regiment (Artists Rifles) in September 1915 and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 10th Battalion Manchester Regiment in June 1916. As a Temporary Lieutenant, in August 1917 he was appointed an Acting Captain in the 8th Battalion North Lancashire Regiment, an appointment he held until October that year. Whilst still attached to that regiment, he was taken prisoner on 12 April 1918. Tollett was repatriated on 2 December 1918. Sold with 29 sheets of copied service papers.
