Robert Rymer was born at North Meols, Southport and enlisted at Southport, Lancashire. He went to France with the original contingent of the 7th Battalion on 7 March 1915, and was killed in action in France and Flanders on 16 May 1915. His name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France. The Southport Advertiser carried a notice on 24 December 1915 reporting him missing.
