Silver Medal and Certificate of Thanks to Sergeant-Major Thomas James Brabin, 4th Battalion, Ling’s Liverpool Regiment, for a courageous attempt to stop a runaway horse attached to a van in Litherland Road, Litherland, on January 25th, 1915. Also Bronze Medal and Certificate of Thanks to Detective P.C. 1397 Andrew McNulty Leeburn, for rendering assistance and bringing the horse to a standstill. Brabin unfortunately was knocked down and received injuries which incapacitated him from duty until March 4th.’ (76th Annual Report, year ending 1.7.1915, page 40 / 41)
