Sergeant George Finnemore was one of just 32 men of the 3rd and 4th Battalions of the Rifle Brigade to receive the clasp ‘Somaliland 1902-04’, the whole having been attached to the 11th Company, Mounted Infantry. During the Great War he was attached to the Military Police Depot, Mesopotamia, which service no doubt led to his future employment as an Inspector of Civil Gaols in Iraq, for which he was awarded the O.B.E. in 1923.
