J. H. Sexty was appointed to the 21st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, on 19 November 1917, with the rank of honorary Major. He was employed with the Army Clothing Department, and was formerly a Captain in the 1st Gloucestershire Royal Garrison Artillery (Volunteers).
