M.C. London Gazette 19 November 1917; citation 22 March 1918 ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He showed the utmost courage and total disregard for personal safety when commanding stretcher bearer squads. His splendid example under heavy shell fire inspired those working under him.’

Harold Howard Leeson served in France and Flanders, September 1914-April 1915 and April 1917-November 1918. In command of the 77th Field Ambulance from June 1918.
