John Henry Brummell was born on 7 October 1816 and appointed an Assistant Surgeon on the Staff on 18 June 1841. Posted to the 40th Foot, August 1841 and posted to the 50th Foot in March 1846 but this appointment cancelled. Appointed Staff Surgeon 2nd Class in January 1848. He died at Cape Coast Castle on 10 June 1848.
