In 1915 Miss Frances F. Tarleton was serving as a Nursing Sister aboard H.M.H.S. Rewa.
The British India Steam Navigation Company’s liner Rewa was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine in the Bristol Channel on 4 January 1918 despite being clearly marked as a hospital ship.
