Nurse Lilly Liddell, V.A.D. died of pneumococcal peritonitis at the Citadel Hospital, Cairo, on 29 September 1918. She was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt. Her name is commemorated on a memorial in York Minister dedicated to members of the V.A.D. who lost their life in the Great War. With copied research, including her Will which begins, ‘I Phyllis Mears known as Lillie Liddell ....’
