Hari Das was born on 14 September 1890. He studied Medicine at Calcutta and London Hospitals, gaining a B.A. Cal. (Hons), 1911, M.R.C.S., 1917, L.R.C.P. Lond. 1917, M.B. (Hons), B.S. Lond. 1917. Appointed a Temporary Lieutenant in the I.M.S. on 11 January 1919 and served as Temporary Captain, January 1920-February 1922. Later confirmed in that rank, he was advanced to Major in July 1930 and to Lieutenant-Colonel in July 1938. In 1945 he was Assistant Director of Medical Services for Pensions at Indian Army H.Q.
