M.I.D. London Gazette 10 May 1945.
The 9th Battalion of the Tank Corps won the right to wear the badge of the 3rd Grenadier Division of the French Army for supporting them at the battle of Moreuil in the summer of 1918. It is worn on the upper left sleeve by all ranks and the tradition was continued when the 9th R.T.R. was formed in 1940. The motto “Qui s’y Frotte s’y Brule” loosely translated, reads ‘he who touches me, gets burned’.
