James Jackman was serving with this battery when, on 14 and 19 January 1900, two guns were hauled to the summit of a steep hill, 800 feet high at the summit, overlooking the Boer positions near Colesberg. The battery was later awarded the Honour Title “Cole’s Kop”. Jackman was invalided to the U.K. in June 1901.
