Horatio Trestram was born in Dingle, Co. Kerry, and enlisted into the 60th Royal Rifles in March 1867, aged 17 years. He served with the 2nd Battalion in Afghanistan and is entitled to the medal with clasps for Ahmed Khel and Kandahar, and to the Kabul to Kandahar Star. The battalion furnished 3 officers and 29 men for service in the Mounted Infantry Section of the Camel Corps, of whom 3 officers and 25 men were present at Abu Klea.
