Slightly wounded at Brakenlaagte on 30 October 1901, in which action the K.R.R.C. Mounted Infantry Section greatly distinguished themselves. On retirement from the army, Joyce served as an Orderly Room Clerk at the Regimental Depot in Winchester, and as Secretary of the Veterans Association. He died in 1935.
