Taken prisoner at Reddesburg on 3-4 April 1900. The regiment suffered 7 killed and 25 wounded at this disastrous action, the remainder being captured. Coming so soon after the action at Stormberg, when the regiment lost nearly 300 men killed, wounded or taken prisoner, this incident sealed the fate of General Gatacre who was relieved of his command and sent home.
