William Chitty was killed in action in France and Flanders on 8 May 1915.
Thomas Watkins was killed in action in France and Flanders on 13 October 1915, in the attack on the Quarries at Loos.
Oliver Canfield was killed in action in France and Flanders on 1 July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
Herbert Carter was awarded both the D.C.M. and M.M. for gallant services during the Great War. D.C.M. London Gazette 16 August 1917: ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Accompanied by a private soldier, he followed a tank to its attack upon a hostile battery, keeping close behind. The tank having fired a broadside, the two men charged the position and captured a gun and its team. They the proceeded to attack another gun pit, where Corporal Carter was knocked senseless by a bomb, but recovered to find his comrade had captured this gun team (six in all) by himself. The dash and determination of these two men were nothing short of marvellous.’
