Singer was promoted to Sergeant Major (W.O. Cl.1) Artillery Clerk, War Office, on 1 March 1937, and commissioned as Lieutenant, Royal Artillery, in November 1939. He became Temporary Captain and Staff Captain in February 1940, in the Department of Quartermaster General to the Forces, and Captain and Temporary Major, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, in February 1942. Promoted to Major in November 1952, he appears to have retired shortly afterwards.
