Inspector W.R. White was awarded the bronze medal in 1938 for the outstanding rescue of a number of swans. He was awarded the silver medal and bar, both 1940, in recognition of the courage and humanity in rescuing animals from areas rendered dangerous by delayed action bombs. He retired in 1961.
