David Jamieson was born in Lerwick, Shetland Islands on 8 May 1849 and joined the service as a Skilled Shipwright aboard H.M.S. ASIA on 14 September 1878. Drafted to H.M.S. ORONTES in April 1879 for three years until June 1882, his next commission was served aboard H.M.S. CONSTANCE, but as the Captain's log relates he “departed this life” early in the morning on the 13th of August 1883, and was buried that afternoon in the English Cemetery at Callas, Peru.
