Awarded 6 September 1832.
He had been a baker prior to enlisting as a Royal Marine on 13 December 1810 and sent to Chatham Division when aged 19 years, born Shoreditch, London. Promoted to Corporal in August 1822, and to Sergeant on 18 April 1827. He was present aboard H.M.S. ALBION at the battle of Algiers, when still a Private, and was later issued with the appropriate medal. Records show that he served relatively short periods aboard 14 different Ships, prior to being recommended for the 'Silver Medal' aboard H.M.S. SERINGPATAM in August 1832. Since the prevailing Rules prevented physical award of the medal until Beaumont was pensioned on 10 September 1832, the name of the Ship in which it was earned does not appear on the medal.
