Awarded 16 November 1842.
Joined the service as a Landsman aboard H.M.S. SUPERB on 16 July 1819, aged 19 years, born Plymouth. His advancement to Petty Officer status, as Captain of the Fore Top, took place on board DRUID in December 1829. After receiving his pension, medal and gratuity he continued to serve for a further ten years, in the reduced Rate of A.B., being finally discharged from H.M.S. ROYAL WILLIAM in May 1856 after earning a medal for his service in the Baltic.
