Sub Lieutenant (ty) 19 March 1915; Lieut (Ty) 2 June 1916; Commission terminated when demobilised in April 1919. Rejoined R.N.R. as Lieut (Proby) 31 December 1923; Lieut commander 31 December 1931; Commander 30 June 1935 and retired in the Spring of 1939. Recalled in rank of Captain (Rtd) in Autumn 1939 and was in command of French Ship EMILE BAUDOT (1941-44). Demobilised as Captain (Rtd) R.N.R. in late 1945. Although his total eligible time served as an R.N.R. officer, inclusive of double war service time, amounted to 33 years, he could not receive a bar to his Decoration, these not being introduced until 1956.
