L.S. & G.C. medal awarded 2 March 1940; Bar awarded 13 January 1947. An example of a man who had served eleven years in the Telegraphist Branch of the R.N.V.R. before voluntarily transferring to the R.N.V. (W) R. when the former Branch was abolished and the latter instituted. In the medal rolls so far released, up to November 1949, only 211 recipients are shown, and only six of these are shown for the award of a first bar.
