John James Wilkie Calderon, Commander (Retd.) Royal Indian Marine, 13 May 1914. Recalled as Temporary Commander, R.N., for service with the Transport Staff at Marseilles 1914-15. The medal roll shows his rank as ‘Lieut. R.N.’ but also notes “Original medal scrapped. New star issued to Party 28 Nov 1921”, presumably to show his correct rank ‘Cdr., R.N.’. On 4 October 1917 Calderon was given a temporary Army Commission as 2nd Lieut., Labour Corps, for employment with an Indian Unit.
