Blandford Volunteer Cavalry Troop of Dorsetshire Yeomanry (1831-38), a trooper’s composite helmet, based partly on the heavy cavalry pattern of 1822 but with a comb similar to that of the 1812 pattern, in this instance the frontal plate, laurel leaf attachments, front and rear peaks are original, the comb possibly period, the skull is of the 1871 pattern, the side ornaments and chin scales, horse hair plume and sweat band are all replacements, the comb and laurel sprays (part detached) have all been re-attached with modern nuts and bolts, good outward appearance, sold as viewed £600-800
