George Tokely was born in England and arrived in Rhodesia in 1896 with Mr. William Loggie, one of the sub-contractors of the Rhodesian Railways. He became associated with a number of mining properties. On the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, he volunteered despite his age, and joined the Labour Corps serving with them in France.
